Complicated

So, in the process of reading some other books this week I have discovered that my brain can only take so much stress.

My brother was hospitalized again, and my father was angry at me about something else for no reason. This, of course, only adds to the stress. So, again, of course, my first thought is, "Hey, reading usually calms you down; why don't you do that?" So, I went to my own private corner in my brain where I housed all of my own personal escapes when stress becomes too much and it was like walking into my home and finding it ransacked and destroyed. Nothing was the same. I couldn't read unless I was almost going to sleep or I would read a paragraph or two and then my mind would trail off. I couldn't focus. This was a hard fact to face for me. I am a big reader and to realize that my brain is so overloaded with stress that I can't even read properly sucks the big one.

So, I've cut some of the books I was reading and, sure, it helped to some degree, but that doesn't make cutting them out if my reading routine any less difficult. Some people don't really understand to the extent in which reading affects my life and that's okay, but without reading and books and someplace to escape to that I can carry anywhere and everywhere, I don't think my life would be as happy as it is now. Well, at least my mindset would be a lot less happy.

I know this is a little more personal than I usually ever get, but this blog is like a stress reliver for me. Although, I have concluded that after I finish this batch from the library, I'm not going to be getting anything out from the library for a while. I have so many books at home that I can read and it's time I started reading them. (:

25 Books

For the past week my local library has been having a book sale and on Thursday I went and bought 7 books for $6. Well, today I was with my parents because they wanted to go to Savers and our local library just so happened to be nearby and it also just so happened to be fill a bag for $3 day. So, I went into Savers with my parents and bought 4 books and got the 5th for free, as is their store deal. While I was there I bought:

The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

Along For the Ride and Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Liz Braswell

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

The Anne of Green Gables that I had bought was for $2.99 and it was extremely old, like early 1900's old. It's in practically perfect condition. I was so excited to own another really well-preserved aged book.

When I went to the library sale, I arrived a little late and there were only 10min. left, so I grabbed a paper bag they provide you with and went to scouring the books that were out. I became a little disgruntled while I was looking through the books because they started to pack them up before they were even done with the book sale. It was extremely frustrating. I honestly hope that they have a suggestion box next year so I can spam it with suggestions all saying "Don't pack up until the book sale until it is completely over, it's irritating to watch you pack up potential books that I might buy." But, anyways, I filled my bag and got these books:

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

The Scarlett Pimpernell by Baroness Orczy

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

The Client by John Grisham

The Dream Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon

The Darkest Road by Guy Garvriel Kay

Left Behind by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

Flashing Swords #2 edited by Lin Carter

The Fallen Angels by Susannah Kells

The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd

Crystal Doors by Rebecca Moesta and Kevin J. Anderson

The Vampire Armand and Taltos by Anne Rice

So over the past week I've bought 25 books for $22. Usually, with the condition most of those books are in, I would have spent well over $250 for all of those books. This week has been the best!

Book Sale!

A friend of mine told me about my libraries bi-annual book-sale that was happening again this week. So, I talked to my mom about it and we decided to go tonight. Well, it started to down-pour right after we entered the library. We got lucky.

I think I got a steal. I ended up getting 7 books for $6.00; that's pretty cheap. And, I got 5 hardcover books that all look brand-new. I ended up getting only 2 paperbacks. There wasn't much ele that tickled my fancy. Plus, I'm trying not to spend a ton of money on books, just for the pure fact that I'm trying to save up some money to treat myself to some new books. (:

The books I ended up getting were:
Blue Moon and Shadowland by Alyson Noel

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

The Van Alen Legacy by Melissa de la Cruz

Eighth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer

Snow-Walker by Catherine Fisher

I'm really exited about these books. And, sure, they might be in the middle of a series, like in the case of The Van Alen Legacy and the books by Alyson Noel, but that doesn't mean I can't go and start getting the other books. Personally, I think getting a book that's in the middle of a series is better because it means I have more books to get. I get to go a clueless scavenger hunt to find those books at really cheap prices. (:

That's all I have for now...toodaloo!

Ebooks!!

I am usually not a fan of the ebook. But...after getting my new phone and being able to read them in a format that is neither irritating nor bothers my eyes, I have come to enjoy them. I'm more the type if person to go to the library and borrow them or go to the store and buy them than borrow or buy them online. I love the feel and smell of the paper in your hands.

I am currently reading Water by Terra Harmony. I am aprhensive about this book. I've heard some good reviews from friends that I trust, but the more I read it, the weirder the plot line gets. And, the main character's emotions are all over the place. One minute it's, "I'm so alone in my life and I shouldn't allow his touch", to, "I can't get enough, I don't want him to stop". It's just all very.....weird. But, that doesn't mean I don't think that the author's writing style isn't good. In fact, I think her writing style is very fluid and helps keep you glued to the story. I can act as a witness, it's happened to me. I'm supposed to be reading the 11 other books I got out at the library, but instead I'm reading this. Very bad, I know.

Welp, until next time,

Way, Waayyyy Too Long

It's been more than a month since the last time I posted and I was going to update last night, but my computer crashed. I know, I know, likely story, but it's true! I swear!

So, I have been reading like crazy and have had so many AP Art projects to work on its kinda crazy. That's the main reason that I haven't been able to post. I have been able to get some books out at my school's library! I haven't been in a library since March, that is just about forever in my book.

The books that I got out:
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson
Blood Promise by Richelle Meas
Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake
Loss by Jackie Morse Kessler
Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Torn by Erica O'Rourke
Switched by Amanda Hocking
Mind Games, Supernaturally, and Endlessly by Kiersten White

I've been reading a little if you haven't guessed already by the list. I'm actually reading more than what is on my "currently reading" list. I was bored a few nights ago and totaled all the books that I have a bookmark in right now, and the total came out to exactly 35. Crazy, right?!

I was shocked but at the same time, not really. I don't know why but when I read multiple novels, I'm better able to keep them all straight in my head.

I wish I could provide pictures of the novels I'm reading but I'm doing this via iPhone, and I don't really feel like toggling  right now. (:

Today was my birthday and I recieved an iPhone (mind you, I have a cracked glitching virgin mobile android before my new phone, so believe me I deserved a new phone, I am privileged by no means), fuzzy, purple, owl booties, and my very own, little, purple umbrella. I think the umbrella was more because I keep taking my mom'a old one when it rains, and that one sucks.

I didn't get a lot this year, but I did get more than I ever hoped for. (:

Toodaloo blog-world.
