It's been a few days since I was able to write a review since I finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.
I must say, I was flummoxed when I started to read this book, I think more for the fact that this book was not what I was expecting at all. The flow of the writing and the magnitude of the story brought me to not being able to put it down, sometimes I even had to convince myself that sleeping was okay, that I could put the book down for a short while. Believe me, it was hard.
This book has gotten some hype, and, like I've said before, hype makes me a little nervous about reading a book or even a new series. But, like with some of the books that I've read before (i.e. see my review about the Delirium series from earlier posts), I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a story I could get lost in. Lately, I have been having trouble finding those kind of books, and I'm so very glad that the last few I've read, I haven't been able to put down.
The one things that I'm mad at in this entire book is the way it ended, or, not really that, but more really of what you find out. I'm not going to post spoilers in this review because I believe that this kind of book is something that, you the reader, should be able to read unhindered by the information that can be found in other reviews. Sadly, I've had that happen with other books I've read because I was apprehensive about reading a certain book series *cough Rapture by Lauren Kate cough* and it almost ruined my reading experience with the final book in the series. I do think, though, that even if I hadn't read the reviews, I still would have disliked most of it. The reading for it was too slow especially for the amount of time they had left, but enough about that. Back to Daughter of Smoke and Bone.
This is definitely a series that I will get behind and support 100%. I own the second book, because it's one of the books that I've won from a Goodreads giveaway, and I am oh-so-glad I did, because I really REALLY need to know what happens next. (:

until next time,
