I'm back again, after just posting last night! (:
So, after finishing the Hunger Games Trilogy, I went back to reading Onyx, the second book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I have to say that I thought this book was going to suck a little. But, it didn't disappoint me, whatsoever. After I had finished Obsidian, the first in the series, which I loved, I was a little skeptical about this next book. Would it just be about Katy and Daemon's undeniable, but still trying to deny it, love for each other? Or, would it be about why Katy was able to shoot that concentrated beam of light at the Arum, henceforth, killing it and saving Dee and Daemon? I think the mix of the two was well balanced. There were times when I thought that maybe it was going a little strong in one direction, but Jennifer's writing, like it sensed my displeasure, turned the situation in the opposite direction. Not necessarily into a safe zone, but nonetheless in a new direction. I won't give anything major away, but I have to say I'm happy and satisfied with the way it ends. The twists and turns it takes to get there are completely worth the journey. Sometimes, you yell at the book, but that's what makes it all the better. There's emotion.
I'm just highly anticipating buying the next one (they don't have it at my local library), because the end of this one leaves you on such a nail-biting, heart-pumping, adrenaline fueled cliffhanger that I just want to run out and buy it. Sadly, I have to special order it. But, all in good time.
Right now, or as of 11:00p.m. actually (I'm east coast, but it posts as west, idk) I have started to read the new sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, YA novel known as The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. This book feels amazing, smells amazing, and IS amazing. I forgot what page number I was on and at the moment I'm too lazy to go check, but I know I'm far enough that things are starting to click into place. Almost, like you can hear it in your head, the pieces adding together and making sense. The aliens are the most befuddling so far. Because this book is a first person narrative you have to wait for her, Cassie "Cassiopeia", to tell you why. It's a dangerous world inside this book. Only so few survivors, and earth is to shit.
I'm really excited to read it. (: gotta love a novel that makes you think "What if...?"
Until next time,
