The 5th Wave/ The Mirror of Her Dreams

Yesterday, I finished The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. One word: A-mazing!

I really hope that he writes a sequel to this book. I'm not the biggest person on "alien invasions" but the dystopian aspect of the story pulled me in. I won't spoil anything and tell what happens that just makes me want to go back for more, because then you can't experience it for yourself. But, the way Rick wrote it, he makes you believe in those characters. He makes you root for them. There are alternating perspectives, and at first it confused my. You start off the story in Cassie, for Cassiopeia, and as you move onto the next section the perspective changes. Rick's clever in that he doesn't tell you that he's switched perspectives; you as the reader have to figure it out. And, of course, you do, but it does take at least a paragraph or page to figure it out.

All in all, I would read this book again in a heart beat. I don't regret spending $15 on this book.

Next of the agenda is The Mirror of Her Dreams by Stephen R. Donaldson. I started this book yesterday, roughly a few hours after I finished The 5th Wave (I stopped for a SUPERNATURAL marathon break), and as odd as it is, which is to be expected of the author of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series, I love it. There's something about the idea of feeling unimportant and then a handsome young man just whisks you off to save his kingdom; that makes you feel important. I believe that this is one of Stephen's greater works. I can't wait to read the rest.

Also, I'm reading The Queen of Everything by Deb Caletti. I'm enjoying it, but it's not as good as what I'm reading above. (:

Until next time,
