It's been a little while....

I guess it's been a little while since I last posted. Okay, I'm just kidding I know it's been a pretty long while since I last posted. But, I do have some updates.

1. Since the last time I've posted I have finished two books. Queen of Everything by Deb Caletti and Torment by Lauren Kate. I love love loved Queen of Everything. The way that Deb writes is crazy good. I was astounded by how fast I devoured it. And I know that I was in the middle of reading The Mirror of Her Dreams but as soon as I picked up her book I was hooked. And then, for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to just get my second reading of Torment out of the way and I finished that. Now I'm on to Passion and I'm seeing mixed reviews. I've always thought that Lauren Kate was a fantastic writer, but the mixed reviews have been constantly plaguing my mind. So, of course, I went back online and read some more of them and then I just had to go and read about the next book Rapture and I found out why this whole mess started in the first place. I'm not going to spoil that for any of you who haven't read it; I'm sure you can do that on your own if you so choose. But, anyway, yeah that was pretty exciting and even though I've pretty much spoiled the ending for myself, I'm going to just go ahead and read them anyway. I'm not going to let the money I bought those books with go to waste. Hahaha.

2. I've started another book too. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. I am emphatic about this book. I can't seem to get enough of it. I also want the "sequel" books too. Katie's writing makes me want to jump into that story and be apart of it, even if it just so happens to be about a crazy girl and a messed up guy. She makes the story seem like magic.I can't get enough!!!

3. I bought a new book since the last time I updated, too. I bought Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. I thought it was going to be an awfully sad novel and Jodi surprised me and made it a true fairy tale. I loved it. There was one point where I thought I was going to have to put it down for a good half-hour and process but seeing as I had only had maybe 25 pages left, I trudged through and came out happily surprised on the other side. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a good modern fairy tale with a true happy ending.

4. I have been commissioned to do a painting for some people I know. They asked me and I, of course, said, "Yes!" This is my first commission and I'm so happy to be painting again. As much as I love reading, painting and the arts are my other favorite things to do. I mean sure I still have a charcoal still-life I have to do for my AP Art class before school starts, but that's for school. This is my first out of school piece. And! I didn't even have to pay for any of my supplies!! Fan-freaking-tastic! Ugh! So happy right now!! *Is currently happy-dancing and squeeing*

5. My mom's car broke down. This isn't pertinent information but I just thought you should know. I'm hoping to be able to help my dad while he fixes it but nothing is set in stone. We're not even sure we can fix the car because the rot on the bottom has eaten through the main line for the power steering fluid. And the most ridiculous thing, she just got her car fixed a week ago for the brakes. This is because on her way home from work she went to brake because the person in front of her did and her brakes slammed all the way down the floor. Not good. *insert good-natured chuckle here* So, now my parents are going car shopping. Should be an interesting development.

6. About 4 years ago I read Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and tonight I finally got to watch the 1940's movie adaptation of it. It starred Joan Fontaine and Lawrence Oliver, I believe. It was a wonderful black and white film. There were some things missing but over all I loved it. It stuck so closely to the novel and it didn't make Maxim's relationship with the former Mrs. De Winter to be some unforgotten lost love. Nope. It stuck to the story. And that's what bugs me; people try to make adaptations about Rebecca and they say that the guy couldn't forget his dead ex or something and it's like, "Hello, you've completely forgotten the rest of the story here. Maxim hated Rebecca and wanted her gone even more when he found out she cheated. Hell, he's the one who killed her." *insert huffing and puffing here* It's just one of my many literary pet-peeves.

Welp, that's it chicki-poos (: Life hasn't been too exciting. Besides those things up there my life has been rather boring.

Oh, wait there was one more thing. I found out my ex-best friend is a lying, stuck-up, whore. I also found out that she still uses her past abuse as an excuse for her behavior. Mind you, her behavior is awful and I don't ever want to be her friend again. Luckily, I have another friend who shares my opinion and has been sharing in our mutual dislike of her. Let's just note: I'm not a mean person (I do have a morbid and smartass sense of humor but that's besides the point) and it takes a lot to drive me to the point where I just give up on you. I'm also a rather loyal person, but when you've been crossed so many times that you've lost count and by only one person, you tend to start loosing faith in people.

Alright, now I'm done (:

Until next time,
The Book Nerd
