Rift, is now officially a saga behind me, well until I read Rise the sequel to this prequel :)
I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Alistair was the one character throughout this entire novel that I just wanted to strangle. First, he tries to practically rape her. Second, he basically calls her his concubine, or would be. He wants to marry her and keep her in a cage; the one thing that Ember cannot stand. She's a free spirit and must remain so. Third, he claims so have some rights over her because he knew her long before Barrow did. That isn't even a valid reason to have claim over a person. This is a person we are talking about here, not some household object that someone could just buy and sell. Lastly, he's too obsessed with her to see that she doesn't love him, not in the way he has his hopes up about anyway. And, there's a sadness in that, if you look past the disgusting man that he is, you could almost feel bad for the poor, stupid idiot.
Note: For the next little while I will be reading manga (in it's most basic form, written anime, and it's read from right to left). I don't review manga on here for the soul purpose that manga is more something I keep private. By that, I mean that I like to keep my opinion on a certain series (whichever I happen to be reading) under wraps. It's something I rarely discuss with other people, seeing as I live in a town where people just don't understand the beauty of these stories. Anyways, I am going to start reading the other books that I have on my lists and the next cover I'm going to have up is Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick.
Enjoy. :)
Until next time,
