No, I don't mean that I bought more books, although I wish!! Actually what I mean by this title is that I've started a new book. I have finished The Fallen and Leviathan a few days ago but I've have been too lazy to open up my laptop, turn it on, and then blog about how the book was. By the by, it was fantastic! One of my friend's had said that they didn't enjoy the book because she didn't understand what some of the creatures that the book talks about are. And I had to restrain myself from saying, "You're not supposed to know; that's the beauty of it. You're supposed to read the novel, take the descriptions that he gives you, and picture the creatures in your head. Whether or not they're pretty matters very little." This person had thought that the creatures had to be pretty (side note: this person reads a lot of frilly YA). I will never understand this person's logic about this because this book's protagonist is a guy and right from the get go you know that nothing about this book is going to be pretty and frilly. If anything it's going to be gory and brutal. Sometimes to the point that you have to put down the book and think about what you are reading and think about everything that the author has just thrown in your face for you to understand. This is why I'd rather not discuss books with this person because, well, they don't seem to understand more than half the book after they are done reading them. I think this person reads them for the romance possibly involved and the possibility that there is something supernatural about the story. Anyways.....Sorry about that, sometimes I rant as you probably well know.
The new book that I'm reading is the second book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare; it's called City of Ashes. I'm already about 143 pages in and I love it! Although I think this is the only book where I'm really hoping that the two main characters aren't brother and sister so that they can be together. This is probably the first time I've ever rooted for a incestuous relationship. It's kind of odd actually. I think part of it is that it's hard to explain to people why you want them together.
In other news: I have to to a Summer Reading project (my last one ever), and I actually do the assignment (gives me an excuse to make my parents get me new books) and I've decided on the books that I'm going to read: The Lost Gate by Orson Scott Card and The Dark Days of Hamburger Halpin by Josh Berk. I hope I chose good books. Wish me luck!
Until next time,
The Book Nerd
