Teen Book Festival !!

I went to a teen book festival today and I have to say, it was the most fun I've ever had. I got to sit in in listening to Margaret Peterson Haddix speaking and I even got to ask her a question afterwords and I even got to shake her hand !!! I was ecstatic, I mean she has inspired me. I own about 3 of her books and just.....ugh! So happy right now :) I also got to buy some books, I bought Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. Cover below

I have never read it, and I think the plot line sounds amazing. To quite from the back of the book, "Escaping from the brutality of an arranged marriage, seventeen-year-old Ismae finds sanctuary at the convent of St. Mortain where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns what the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts--and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must be willing to take the lives of others.
Ismae's most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany, where she must pose as a mistress to the darkly mysterious Gavriel Duval, who has fallen under a cloud of suspicion Once there, she finds herself woefully underprepared--not only for the deadly games of love and intrigue, but fir the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death's vengeance upon a target who, against her will, had stolen her heart?"

Sounds good, no? I can't wait to read it, but sadly I must read two more before I can start this one. :/ I also bought a book for one of my dear friends who went with me, Rift  by Andrea Cremer. I'm not going to go into detail about it because I just reviewed and discussed it. Sooo, I'm just going to tell you instead that they had so many beautiful books there, I wish I had brought more money and been able to get more. Although I think that getting a total of 25 books for myself in the past two weeks should be enough to hold my pallet for books for a little while, but alas, there are those books that I must get, otherwise my collection shan't be complete.

Also, I'm going to start reading City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare after I finish The Fallen and Leviathan by Thomas E. Sneigoski. I'm excited. :)

I found out something rather interesting today. My mother and I were sitting in our basement listening to some really good music and we got to talking and then I was telling her about the book fair, and she told me something intriguing. Apparently, I get my bad book buying habit from my grandmother (mom's mother, I never met her she died a little bit before I was born). Grams used to have stacks all over the house, and she would always buy her books, but she would never go to the library. My mom said, "Your grandmother was the biggest contradiction. She was the cheapest person I ever met, but she would never go to the library for books; she would always buy them, no matter what." I found the kind of funny. Seeing as I do go to the library, but then I can't seem to stop buying books either. Oops! :)

I thought this fit this post perfectly. :) Enjoy.

Until next time,
The Book Nerd
